Joseph Hendrickson (Director of Photography)...

 

... received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting for the Theatre from Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts. When not studying Shakespeare and appearing in numerous plays, he would experiment with 35mm photography and create film shorts for the Seattle Public Access Channel’s program, “The Sherm Show,” which he also originated and performed in. Initially, photography and cinematography had otherwise been a hobby for Joseph since he picked-up his first Pentax K1000 at age fifteen.​

 

Upon completion of his Undergraduate Degree, what had previously been little more than a leisurely diversion quickly became the focal point of his career path. Desiring to further hone his skills behind the camera, Joseph briefly attended Chapman College of Film & Media Arts to obtain his Master’s in Cinematography in hopes to one day become a Director of Photography for feature films. While attending Chapman, he worked on several short films and continued to diversify and deepen all of his technical skills behind the camera before eventually deciding to brave the elements and dive into freelance work in his field.

 

​As a former actor-turned-cinematographer, Joseph was indeed a rare breed: A technically savvy and gifted cinematographer who fluently spoke both the language behind the camera in addition to the language in front of it.

 

Joseph has since worked as a Director of Photography, on numerous short films, industrials, commercials, music videos, as well as the independent, feature-length documentary “American Street Kid,” which chronicles the plight of homeless youth in Los Angeles. http://www.outonalimbfilmproductions.com/
